GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Principles that guide our decisions.

Independent Thinking
Investment decisions should be based on evidence, disciplined analysis and client objectives rather than market momentum or prevailing narratives.

Long-Term Alignment
Capital should be managed in a way that reflects the investor’s time horizon, liquidity requirements, objectives and tolerance for risk.

Risk Awareness
Risk is not limited to market volatility. It also includes liquidity, concentration, counterparty, operational, governance and execution risk.

Cross-Market Perspective
Public markets, private investments, real assets and digital assets increasingly interact. We believe capital allocation should reflect those relationships rather than evaluate each market in isolation.

Governance and Discipline
Strong investment outcomes depend on clear decision-making frameworks, disciplined implementation and appropriate oversight.

Client Alignment
Every investment framework should begin with the investor’s objectives rather than with a product, strategy or transaction.

HOW WE THINK ABOUT CAPITAL

The purpose of the capital comes first.

LIAM believes that every portfolio should begin with a clear understanding of what the capital is intended to accomplish.

Different pools of capital may have very different objectives. Some require long-term growth. Others prioritize liquidity, income, capital preservation, diversification or strategic flexibility. Family capital may need to serve multiple generations, while institutional capital may be governed by specific mandates, liabilities or investment policies.

Leadership therefore begins with asking the right questions before selecting investments.

What is the purpose of the capital?
What liquidity may be required?
What risks are acceptable?
What risks may not be immediately visible?
How should public, private and digital assets interact within the overall portfolio?
What governance and implementation structure is appropriate?

These questions help establish the framework from which investment decisions can be evaluated.

GLOBAL OUTLOOK

Capital markets are global. Investment thinking should be too.

Today’s investment environment is shaped by global monetary policy, technological change, geopolitical developments, capital flows, demographic trends and the continued evolution of private and digital markets.

LIAM approaches these developments from a global perspective, recognizing that opportunities and risks increasingly move across borders, asset classes and market structures.

Our leadership seeks to combine global awareness with disciplined portfolio thinking, helping investors evaluate both immediate opportunities and the longer-term forces influencing capital markets.

LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION

Innovation without abandoning discipline.

Financial markets continue to evolve.

Private capital has become a larger component of institutional portfolios. Digital assets and blockchain infrastructure are changing elements of market infrastructure. Artificial intelligence is affecting investment research, productivity and business models. New financial technologies are changing how capital moves, settles and is managed.

LIAM believes these developments deserve serious analysis rather than either automatic enthusiasm or automatic rejection.

Innovation should be evaluated using the same principles applied to any investment opportunity: economic value, risk, liquidity, governance, implementation and portfolio relevance.

LIAM INSIGHTS

Perspectives on markets, capital and investment strategy.

LIAM’s leadership contributes to the firm’s research and investment commentary on topics including changing market cycles, private markets, institutional portfolio construction, family-office investment frameworks, digital assets and the evolution of global market infrastructure.

FROM THE CEO

Clarity matters most when markets become complicated.

“Markets will always change. Technologies will evolve, investment opportunities will shift and new risks will emerge. The responsibility of an investment firm is not to predict every development. It is to build a disciplined framework that allows investors to make better decisions as circumstances change.”
